3. In polarographic analysis, why should we add a large amount of supporting electrolyte? After adding electrolyte, the resistance of the electrolytic cell will decrease, but the current will not increase. Why? Solution: The support electrolyte is added to eliminate the migration current. Because the mercury electrode is used in polarographic analysis, after concentration polarization occurs, the magnitude of the current is only affected by the diffusion speed (concentration) of the ion to be measured, so adding support electrolysis will not cause an increase in current.
